Hollywood icon Johnny Depp has set his sights on a colossal castle dating back to the 15th century, listed for sale in Italy. According to Italian local media, the 60-year-old American actor is set to acquire the castle, built in the 15th century and priced at $4 million, located in the commune area of Montalto Dora near Turin.
Having largely resided and filmed in Europe since his defamation lawsuit against his ex-wife Amber Heard in 2022, Johnny Depp now plans to add a historic Italian structure to his assets. Reportedly, Johnny Depp visited the castle situated on Crovero Mountain near Turin while filming a biographical film about the artist Amedeo Modigliani.
Sources speaking to the New York Post revealed that actor Riccardo Scamarcio, who stars alongside Al Pacino in the film, frequently visited the castle and brought Johnny Depp along with him with the intention of purchasing it. 11-BEDROOM MEDIEVAL CASTLE
The castle, boasting medieval and Gothic influences, was put up for sale after a lengthy restoration process. Covering an area of 2,000 square meters, the castle features 11 bedrooms, 13 bathrooms, a spacious courtyard, and a chapel dating back to the 15th century. According to local reports, there is also a smaller castle and a farmhouse on the property. Montaldo Dora Mayor Renzo Galletto stated to The Post that Johnny Depp was not convinced he should be the king of this castle. Galletto commented, “A celebrity purchasing a historic piece like Montalto Dora castle will attract significant interest to the region. However, we are not sure if this is the right ‘economic synergy’ for the community.”
Montalto Dora village has a population of 3,300 people. The coveted castle of the town is currently under the protection of Italian Cultural Heritage.
