An elderly tourist was torn apart by a wild bear after lowering the car window to take a selfie. The incident occurred on April 22nd. A 72-year-old Scottish woman and her companion encountered two bears while passing through Transfăgărășan, a famous mountain road in Romania known for its nature.
The tourists stopped their vehicle to get a closer look at the impressive animals. At that moment, one of the bears made a sudden move towards the car.
“I JUST WANTED TO TAKE A PICTURE”
The woman, after the wild attack in the Carpathian Mountains, was taken to a nearby hospital. Speaking to local media, the woman, who said she was from Scotland, said, “We were in the car and were going to take a picture. When the bears came up to the window, I wanted to take their picture.”
Doctors announced that the 72-year-old tourist’s injuries were not life-threatening, while authorities announced that a team was sent to the area after the attack and the bears were removed from the area.
Police advised residents and tourists to always stay at a safe distance from animals they encounter in the wild.
