US Secretary of State Antony Blinken met with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi and Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing on the third day of his visit to China. Wang warned the US about China’s ‘red lines,’ while Xi emphasized that the two countries should be ‘partners, not rivals.’

Secretary of State Wang highlighted that China-US relations are beginning to stabilize but are still being tested by ‘negative factors.’

Wang questioned, ‘Should China and the US continue to move in the right direction toward stability, or should they spiral into decline?’

Blinken, who made his second visit to China in less than a year, concluded his trip by meeting President Xi on Friday afternoon.

During a press conference, Blinken stated that progress had been made in cooperation between the two countries, particularly in military communication, combating narcotics, and the future of artificial intelligence. He emphasized the need to continue strengthening mutual ties, saying, ‘We are committed to maintaining and strengthening our communication networks.
